Description & Technique

This is an open edition, Lost for Words papercut. Inspired by Steven Spielberg's novel and film Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The mothership hovers over Devil's Tower.

Cut from black 150gsm paper. Hand stitched onto black 300gsm card. The entire artwork is strengthend with 5mm foam board.

This artwork is black-on-black. Shadows and details will depend on your light source and the environment in which it is displayed.

This is a hand-stitched papercut.

Artwork is signed.

Hand-Stitched

The papercut artwork is hand stitched to the background. This technique allows the artwork to be free from the background, providing life, depth and shadow. The fine details of the papercut can be seen using this method.

Dimensions

The artwork is A3 in size (297mm x 420mm)

Framing

Framing options available:

Acrylic or hand made wooden box frame

The box frame has a 20mm gap between the artwork and the glass. This allows the artwork to be a three dimensional piece as several sections of the artwork are raised from the surface.

Open Edition

Open edition. Your design will look almost identicle to that pictured but due to the nature of paper cutting - some cuts may vary slightly. Image used for reference only.
